Did you know the most common New Year’s resolution is to lose weight? Exercising would first come straight to your mind when thinking how to lose weight. However, oftentimes people neglect their diet.

The process of losing weight consists of both exercising and eating healthily according to the 80:20 rule — 80% nutrition, 20% exercise.

Take a look at the infographic below that depicts the steps needed on your weight loss journey.

We get our nutrients from food but there is no single food that can provide all the nutrients our body needs. Therefore, it is important to have a wide variety of food on our plate to meet our daily nutritional needs.

By having the right amount of nutrition plus leading an active lifestyle, weight loss will be the result of the equation. To control your food intake, follow the food portion plating by dividing up your plate into sections. A balanced meal consists of a quarter plate of wholegrains, quarter plate of protein and half a plate of fruits and vegetables.
